Overview
Stevens & Bolton LLP, a prominent legal firm in Guildford, wanted to revitalise their existing office space and adapt it to the new ways of working.
Seeking to encourage a return to the office, the firm aimed to provide areas that offered the comforts of home and fostered a pre-pandemic ambience.
Agile workspaces were a key focus to accommodate diverse working styles and create a welcoming environment for clients who were once again visiting the office for face-to-face meetings.
The Brief
The design transformed the traditionally cellular layout of legal offices, reducing closed-off spaces from 70% to 30%, and introduced a more agile, open-plan workspace.
A blend of private and quiet areas, including libraries, phone booths, and pods, supported a variety of working styles within the new open environment.
The ground floor was reimagined with a spacious town hall and breakout area for social events and agile work, while additional spaces were created for meetings and collaborative tasks, alongside a client suite equipped for video conferencing.
The Solution
Sustainability and wellbeing were significant considerations for Stevens & Bolton LLP. In alignment with the firm’s commitment to environmental responsibility, furniture was locally sourced to reduce the project’s carbon footprint and support the local economy.
The entire project was designed and built in accordance with the SKA Silver guidelines, resulting in the achievement of a sustainability certification.
As part of their ongoing commitment to wellbeing, Stevens & Bolton LLP plan to pursue Fitwell accreditation, further enhancing their workplace’s positive impact on their employees’ health and productivity.
